Chapter 192 - Chapter 192: Parent's Perspective
After Lilia and Elizabeth had returned, Arthur was called by his father, Steve.
"How was Miss Lilia?"
"How was she, you ask?"
"I mean, as a fiancée. Although it has been decided that Arthur will have a political marriage as the heir, I want him to have a happy married life if possible."
Steve, with an embarrassed smile, conveyed the intent of his question to Arthur.
This was his true feelings without deception.
For the sake of not letting the subjects starve, the development of the territory is essential. It is currently manageable because Steve is here, but looking ahead, connections with other families through political marriages must be strengthened.
That was Arthur's role as the heir.
Arthur's choice of fiancée was led by Christina. While Steve understood the importance of this, he felt a sense of guilt for not being able to let him have free love.
If so, at least he wanted him to be happy even in a political marriage. That is a parent's heart. Normally, such parental feelings are hidden, but because there was trust that Arthur would see through any lies, Steve told him honestly.
"Since there hasn't been much interaction yet, the judgment is based only on current information,"
Arthur began with a preamble.
"She suddenly said she wanted to join the Economic Revolution Club, and seeing that she clashed with Isabella, I think she is suitable as a woman of our family."
Hearing that, Steve held his head in his hands.
"So, it seems another formidable woman has been added."
"Yes. However, the fact that she immediately reached out to a classmate in trouble is commendable. If she were to consider profit and loss there, it would have been a superficial relationship. It might be correct for a noble, though. No, but it felt like she was testing me a little."
Arthur replied, recalling the interactions since Natalia had arrived.
"That might be the case. Miss Lilia can only see the family background. Well, let's see from now on. So, is there any hope regarding the matter of that classmate's family business?"
"Depending on the investigation, saving a small construction company is easy. However, if targeting Marquess Cavendish, it cannot be said at this stage. Still, if there is any act of embezzling state funds, as a subject of His Majesty, it should be eliminated."
"Yes. Well, if it becomes unmanageable, tell me. Like the previous Count Cutter, if there is danger to life, that is not a child's domain."
"I understand."
And Arthur left Steve's office.
In came Christina in his place.
"How was Arthur?"
"He is still such an honor student. He could show a bit more emotion in front of his parents. I worry that if he acted that way even when alone with Miss Lilia."
"Even with a political marriage?"
"Yes. If possible, it would be better to be happy together."
"That requires you to marry many wives like you."
When told by Christina, Steve averted his eyes.
Currently, there are four wives. Christina is still not less jealous. Well, she does not fight with the other three.
"Rather, I am worried about the relationship with Marquess Cavendish."
Steve changed the topic.
"That kind of opponent is just right. I am looking forward to how we will settle it."
Christina, who doubted Steve's infidelity but did not doubt her son's success.
