Chapter 195 - Chapter 195: The Economic Revolution Club Activates
Arthur and the other members of the Economic Revolution Club begin to move in order to fight against Marquess Cavendish.
First, they visit Granville Construction and purchase the accounts receivable owed to Cavendish Construction. Samuel Granville, a knight and the father of Natalia, was present for this transaction.
He looked at Arthur and the others with an anxious expression.
"It is appreciated that you will buy our accounts receivable at face value, but from a business standpoint, we would like to avoid clashing with Cavendish Construction."
"Regardless, Cavendish Construction cannot continue to exist as it is now. Even if His Excellency steps down, as long as we do not stop, it is certain that there will be no work for them in the future."
Understanding Samuel's anxiety, Arthur spoke of the lack of a future for Cavendish Construction going forward. However, he did not reveal how they intended to do it.
Samuel let out a deep breath and looked up at the ceiling.
"That is true. If we had not been helped by you, our company would have ended anyway. And if House Archibalt were to target us, then Cavendish Construction would also be finished."
Although Samuel spoke thus, he was mistaken about one thing.
It was not House Archibalt that was targeting them, but rather Arthur and Isabella. Steve was not yet actively moving to do anything to Cavendish Construction or the Marquess at this stage.
He was simply watching over the children's methods.
His intention was to offer assistance if things became unmanageable, but until then, he intended to leave it to the children.
It is not surprising that this nuance cannot be understood from the outside.
Once the contract for purchasing the accounts receivable was concluded, Arthur was shown the construction sites of the bonds by Samuel.
"The reason payment was not made was due to defects, correct?"
"Yes. We were suddenly told that repairs must be completed there, and when we asked where exactly, no specific location was indicated..."
This exchange revealed the weakness of the subcontractor. When questioned about the delayed payment, they were told there were defects in the construction site, but when asked where those defects were, no clear location was shown.
Furthermore, since the building was already being used by the client, Cavendish Construction should have received payment, but they claimed it was to avoid claims for delay damages.
Directly confirming with the client would mean clearly clashing with Cavendish Construction, so they were unable to do that.
And the client they were told about was Viscount Nathan. The construction site was his manor's gazebo.
"Alright, next is to check for defects."
Arthur said this while looking around at the members.
Lilia raised a question about this.
"But we couldn't check for defects, right? How are we going to do that?"
"We will use the name of House Archibalt. We have purchased the accounts receivable for this construction. If we ask to confirm the reason why payment cannot be made, they will allow it. If they refuse even then, this will be settled in court, and since that would make the matter big, I think they will back down."
Lilia accepted Arthur's answer.
While the Granville family was far below the Cavendish family in status, House Archibalt would be treated as superior.
If they pushed this hard, it would become well-known not only in the construction industry but also in high society.
"And from here on, Lady Lilia will be the main character."
"Huh?"
Being told she was the main character by Arthur, Lilia was taken aback.
She had completed the scenario by participating, but she had not yet made the resolve to become the main character.
However, the hands of the clock had already begun to move.
