Chapter 225 - Chapter 225: Aurora's Interrogation

Members of the Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission were arresting suspects one after another in Sowell Land.

Those being arrested were Aurora's grandchildren, and they all asked in unison whether they had obtained the Minister's permission,

but they were told back,

"If it is the Minister, then it is permission from the Minister of the Dragon Head Medal,"

and they could no longer resist.

Most of all, even during the interrogation, they still expected Aurora to apply pressure and save them. After all, she was the source of the insider trading information, and she herself had said to use this information well.

They thought that if she gave an order, she would naturally follow up for them.

However, days passed and they were not released. Gradually, a sense of anxiety began to arise among them as well.

"Is Grandmother saying nothing?"

They confirmed this in the interrogation room, but the committee member conducting the interrogation informed them of a shocking fact.

"We have been instructed by Ms. Alexa Tess Sowell that you need not show her any leniency."

"That bitch, she sold me out!"

Anger exploded. He thought that Alexa, to win the succession struggle, had framed him, her own cousin.

But in reality, it was simply self-inflicted, and there was no sympathy from the interrogators for such anger.

"That being the case, it would be better to respond to the interrogation honestly, as it will improve your impression in court."

He was told this and fell silent, but after a while, he suddenly realized something.

"Right, Grandmother. The Minister must have gained profit from this information as well. Is the Minister also under investigation?"

"I cannot convey such information."

He asked, but no proper answer came. However, Aurora herself was also under investigation. But this was a voluntary inquiry. The Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission had gone to Aurora's place themselves to question her about this matter.

Steve was accompanying them. After all, the other party was a great noble. Even as committee members, they felt uneasy going alone.

The questioning was being conducted in a luxurious reception room.

It was a place Steve knew well, but the young woman committee member was trembling with nervousness.

Her name was Beatrice. This young woman had been pushed into this troublesome work by her superiors and seniors.

And because Steve had come with the young woman, Aurora's mood was bad. Therefore, her gaze was colder and sharper than usual.

Haa, I want to go home...

Beatrice was on the verge of tears. Being from a commoner family, she had hardly ever had the opportunity to converse with nobles, let alone undertake a grand task like investigating nobles. And now, suddenly, she was investigating Aurora.

She had even been worried about submitting her resignation yesterday. The reason she didn't do so was that it was already decided that Steve would accompany them, and she imagined that if she ran away from there, she wouldn't be forgiven even if she quit, so she had simply not submitted her resignation.

Perhaps sensing her inner thoughts, Aurora applied pressure.

"So, what is it you wish to ask?"

Glared at by Aurora, Beatrice shrank back.

"A-ah, yes. Um..."

"When you speak, speak clearly!"

When scolded by Aurora, she looked as if she were about to cry any moment.

Seeing this, Steve offered a helping hand.

"First, we intended to ask whether you obtained insider information, right?"

"Yes---"

With a pale face, she managed to nod.

Aurora ignored her and began speaking to Steve.

"Yes. I knew it."

Aurora answered honestly without hiding anything.

Beatrice, still trembling, dug deeper to ask about knowing it.

"Did you pass that information on to your clan members?"

"Yes. But that is not a crime, is it? I merely passed on information I knew. If that is a crime, then Your Majesty becomes a criminal as well."

Aurora spoke with a sharp tone. Her words and gaze pierced through Beatrice.

"As you say..."

Beatrice responded in a voice as quiet as a mosquito's buzz. Seeing this, Steve offered a helping hand once again.

"Now, now, she is just doing her job---"

"Oh my, you are kind to young women."

This time, Aurora's gaze was directed at Steve.

"That is not the case."

"Is it not? Originally, should you not be on my side, the one who might be falsely accused of a crime?"

When told that, Steve shrugged his shoulders.

"I don't need your help, do I? As for you, I thought the script from the beginning to the end was already completed before you started."

"You trust me quite a bit."

"Yes, I have been watching you for a long time."

When told that she had been watching for a long time, Aurora's chest grew warm.

However, Beatrice did not understand the trust relationship between the two, and she was just flustered, caught in between.
